On May 7, 2026, the Anne Arundel Affordable Housing Coalition hosted a County Executive Primary Candidates Forum at the Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library in Annapolis. Other candidates were invited to participate but were unable to attend.

2025 Holiday Party

The Anne Arundel Affordable Housing Coalition's annual Holiday Celebration brought together coalition members, elected officials, community partners, and housing advocates to celebrate another year of collaboration and progress. The evening featured remarks from several local leaders and welcomed the newly elected City of Annapolis aldermen and alderwomen.

During the celebration, the Coalition recognized the Maryland Reentry Resource Center as the 2025 Nonprofit Organization of the Year for its commitment to helping formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reenter the community. Through transitional housing, case management, employment assistance, and other supportive services, MRRC is addressing barriers to stable housing and helping participants build long-term stability.

The Coalition also honored Senator Shaneka Henson as the 2025 Housing Champion for her leadership in the Maryland General Assembly and her longstanding advocacy for policies that expand access to safe, affordable housing. Since taking office in 2019, Senator Henson has been a strong voice for housing initiatives that benefit individuals and families throughout Maryland.

Thank you to everyone who joined us as we celebrated our shared commitment to expanding affordable housing opportunities and strengthening our community.

2024 Tidings and Toasts

The Anne Arundel Affordable Housing Coalition’s 2024 Tidings & Toasts Holiday Celebration was held at The Bistro for the first time, a social enterprise of The Lighthouse that supports workforce development through hospitality training and employment opportunities. The evening brought together coalition members, elected officials, community partners, and housing advocates to celebrate another year of collaboration and progress.

The evening featured remarks from Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman and Anne Arundel County Councilwoman Julie Hummer, who shared their perspectives on the importance of expanding affordable housing and strengthening partnerships across the county.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the holiday season and reaffirm our shared commitment to increasing affordable housing opportunities throughout Anne Arundel County.

2023 Luncheon

Our Holiday Luncheon in 2023, over 70 people attended the event with the Secretary of Housing & Community Development, Jake Day, and our County Executive, Steuart Pittman at Quiet Waters.

Each year for over a decade, AAAHC has recognized the work of individuals and nonprofits that have contributed to providing, developing, and preserving affordable housing and/or resident services in our county.

AAAHC honored the CEO of Arundel Community Development Services, Erin Karpewicz, and the retired CEO of the Housing Commission of Anne Arundel County, Cliff Martin, and The Community Action Agency. The Agency was given the award in recognition of the Turnaround Thursday movement, community engagement provided to the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis, and the establishment of transitional housing for returning citizens created through a partnership with Arundel Community Development Services.
